Once upon a time, Donzília and Manuel left Portugal in the pursuit of a new life in Germany. Many stories start like this, but this one has a happy ending!
Both Donzília and Manuel found work, started to settle and founded a family. For many years, Donzília worked in an italian ice cream parlor where she learned all tools of the trade and many delicious recipes. Eventually, she became its owner and a successfull entrepreneur.
A treasure of delights
After years in Germany, Donzília and Manuel decided to return home to Portugal. With her, Donzília brought her experience a treasure of recipes for artisanal ice cream, crepes and waffles.
Her eldest son Daniel decided to keep this unique treasure. In 2014 he opened his own ice cream parlor – the “Milano”, continuing the sucess story that his mother had started some 2000 km north of Aveiro and with that unreplacable italian tradition.
The ice cream tasted so good that a branch was soon added. Six years after the first gelato passed the counter, it was time to expand the booming business.
More than ice cream: The Milano Avenida
Daniel knew exactly what he wanted: a charming place that not only offers ice cream, but also specialty coffee, small meals and brunch. In a stylish ambience. With great dishes and excellent espresso. Daniel found what he was looking for on Aveiro’s main shopping street, Avenida. And here was the clue for the place’s name: Milano Avenida!
For the specialty coffee, it had to be an Astrolab by Fiamma. Her colors match the design of the new location. There she brews perfect espresso coffee cup after cup. Frothes milk. And simply looks good. See for yourself!
